For me, Michelle Falcon's session on the use of language was one of the highlights of this year's summer school. She is enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and delivered her talk in a fun, interactive manner. It was challenging for all of us to question the words we use and try to tweak our use of language to connect with the different learning styles. Her session gave me lots to think about and will hopefully improve how I communicate in my lessons." - Sharon Griffiths, delegate at ESTA Summer School UK, 2024
Michelle's session gave us the space and time to reflect on the words we choose and to consider how language choices might better facilitate and enrich learning experiences for our pupils. It was thought provoking and relevant to all educators."
- Helen Dromey, Course Leader ESTA PGDip.
Michelle presented at the European String Teachers Association (ESTA) Summer School in August 2024, delivering a workshop for teachers, entitled 'Mind Your Language Please!'
Outline
These days we are all familiar with pupil learning styles but how often do you think about the language you use when working with your pupils? Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), is a framework which can be used to help us optimise our use of language so that we communicate more effectively on a conscious and subconscious level, bringing out the best in our students, as we learn to speak ‘their language’. This session will briefly explore some of the key concepts of NLP, show you how to utilise them in your teaching and engage you in practical exercises that could shift your thinking around language.

Online Tuition
Michelle has made lessons by Zoom engaging and fun. I have seen my young beginner progressing and enjoying her playing thanks to Michelle’s patient and precise instructions and child-centred approach. Lessons by Zoom have been straightforward to set up and allowed us huge flexibility and continuity when so much has been changing in the world around us due to the pandemic. I have particularly enjoyed being able to observe (and join in) which has helped me to better support practice. I wholeheartedly recommend Michelle’s online lessons to all."
